Actify Spinfire 9.0 Partner Release

Greetings Valued Partners,

We are pleased to announce the partner release of SpinFire 9.0 Build 1433 which includes SpinFire Professional,SpinFire Lite ,SpinFire Markup, and SpinFire Reader. This release is available in the following local languages: English, German, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

SpinFire 9.0 represents a lot of effort over a long period of time. The main areas of focus were the following:

Handling of larger datasets
Support for limited user installs
Side by Side installs
SpinFire 9.0 introduces the capability of side by side installs (i.e. two or more different versions of SpinFire can be installed and run concurrently on the same computer) . Additionally SpinFire 9.0 installs allow restricted users the ability to install the software. P reviously to run an install, the user required administrator privilege.
New single install for SpinFire (all languages), importers and plug-ins o

The install comes in two basic formats-- web deploy and monolithic install. The web deploy is best for internet or intranet based installs and the monolithic install is best for CD distribution. Both include the ability to install any language, importer or plug-in. Additionally now there is only one entry in the Add/Remove Programs listing making updating and removing SpinFire much easier. o

Important Note: Only the importers and plug-ins contained in the install will work with SpinFire 9.0. Therefore any existing importer or plug-in available prior to the release of SpinFire 9.0 will not work with SpinFire 9.0 and later. Windows 7 support

The bulk of the effort has gone into handling of larger assemblies. As noted in more detail in the Release Notes, many architectural changes to the product have been implemented to accommodate this

It should also be noted that SpinFire 9.0 defaults to SpinFire Reader mode when a license is not present, therefore, moving forward, SpinFire Reader will no longer require a license file.

IMPORTERS and PLUG-INS

Please note that all existing importer and plug-in installs available prior to the release of SpinFire 9.0 will NOT work with SpinFire 9.0 and later.

Also, while .3D files created with older versions of SFP will work with SFP 9.0, the new .3D format will NOT be read by previous versions of any Actify product (SpinFire or Design Share).

The following updated importers are available with this release and will need to be installed via the new installation manager:

· Catia V4 - Version support up to V4.2.5
· Catia V5 - Version support up to R19
· NX - Version support update up to NX6
· Parasolid - Version support Up to R19
· Pro/E - Version support up to Wildfire 5
· STEP - AP203, AP214 · Solidworks - Version support up to 2010
· STL - Any
· IGES - Version support up to 6.0
· AutoCAD - Version support up to 2010
· JT Version support up to 9.3

Inventor is included in this install, but will be removed temporarily. The current approach requires the install of the Inventor viewer and we are having wildly different import results based on the viewer version (none of which are really good). We are pursuing other options, and need time to investigate and determine a schedule.
